THE COMPANY
Where the heck are you located?GENERAL STUFF
What the heck is Wamboo.com?
(and other deep stuff)Free (but not cheap), fun, fulfilling, smart and incredibly good-looking. Wamboo is a community of individuals, who alone or with friends, have fun while lending a hand to people who need it most. Social networking for social benefit... it doesn't get cooler than that!
Who is Wamboo? Are you a charity?
Right now, it's only a one-person company. No, Wamboo is not a non-profit or a charity, but it is a social networking service organization for non-profits, charities, police and fire departments to get help for individuals and families in need.
What does it cost?
Wamboo is free. PayPal typically charges a service fee for transferring funds, but absolutely none of it goes to Wamboo.
How do you make money?
There’s a little thingy called a Wamboost which (fingers crossed) helps me recoup my investment in the site. Wamboost is designed to drive more help to the Rallies and benefit the Wamboo members.
What’s a Wamboost?
A Wamboost is a coupon or bundle of coupons. Think of them as a gift from our advertisers for donating to a Rally that has a Wamboost icon.
How does a Wamboost work?
If you’re on a Rally page and see the Wamboost icon, that means coupon(s) are provided to donors meeting the minimum donation amounts set by the advertiser to get their coupon. Mouse over the Wamboost icon to see the levels of giving required by the advertiser. Once your donation is made, you’ll see a Get Your Wamboost button on your profile page which will be a link to your coupons. Each Wamboost displays a unique number and may only be used one time. Sometimes giving a little bit more to the Rally, will get you a whole lot more in savings.
What company wouldn’t want to advertise their product or service with a Wamboost coupon?
Exactly! Companies that want to reach a more socially conscious demographic (not to mention intelligent, witty and good looking) that is the Wamboo Member, will be interested in Wamboost. Also company owners interested in helping increase donations to a Rally, like those passionate about a specific cause or friends and family members of a Rally will love the Wamboost too. Advertiser results will be completely trackable through coupon redemption and they’ll be doing a good thing….awwww, ain’t that sweet? Just click on the Advertise With Us link to start a Wamboost campaign.
Why are some of my Wamboost coupons for merchants and/or merchandise outside of my geographic area?
Wamboo wants to encourage merchants of all sizes to support the Rallies needing our help. We also didn’t want to exclude any Members from receiving all the Wamboost coupon savings they deserve. So, if you receive a Wamboost coupon you can’t use, for whatever reason, share it with a friend or use your favorite search engine to trade them on some of the online coupon exchange sites.
Are there opportunities to partner with Wamboo?
I'm open to the possibilities as long as it's a good fit for Wamboo and our members. You may want to review the Privacy Policy before contacting me, though.
Where does the donation money go?
Directly to the Champion (sponsoring organization) who has committed, through the Wamboo Rally Affidavit, that 100% will go to purchase the item(s) needed by the Rally (individual or family in need). PayPal typically charges a service fee for transferring funds but absolutely none of it goes to Wamboo. These service fees vary based on a number of criteria. For more information visit PayPal.
What payment options are there?
PayPal can process a donation from a bank account, credit card or PayPal balance.
Who can Champion a Wamboo Rally?
501(c)(3) non-profit organizations in good standing, a police department or a fire department.
How do you make sure rallies are legitimate?
We reduce the risk of fraud by limiting who can champion a Wamboo Rally and requiring completion of the Wamboo Champion Affidavit and the Wamboo Rally Affidavit.
Must a Champion really fill out the whole Wamboo Rally Affidavit?
Yes!
Why can't I see contact information for who is Championing a Rally?
They have elected to remain anonymous. Don't read too much into this. There are a number of perfectly understandable reasons an organization may want to remain anonymous.
Why can't I use Wamboo to raise money for my church, school or organization?
Although we wish you the best of luck, Wamboo is not that kind of site. We exclusively help families and individuals.
How do I find a Champion to help me get what I need?
Wamboo may provide a matching tool in a future phase but right now a local church, police or fire department may be the most accessible Champions.
Is my donation tax deductible?
Some are and some are not depending on the Championing organization. Champions have been asked to check whether or not the donation will be deductible and their response shows on the Rally page. Your best bet is to ask your tax preparer or other tax professional. Don't forget to print your PayPal receipt.
How do I print a receipt?
PayPal gives you a print receipt option.
Can I get a refund?
No. Donations are final so please make smart decisions for yourself.
I want to talk to a live person there. Can I call you?
There's only one live person here so please read this FAQ and if you still have a question, see Contact Us.
What if I see something I think is inappropriate or against the Terms of Use
E-mail tou@wamboo.com
I want to post an event on the calendar.
Right now, only the Champion of the Rally may create an event. There may be a future enhancement that will allow Members and Teams to create events benefitting a Rally. Until that enhancement occurs, if you are not the Champion, but are hosting an event on behalf of a Rally, you could contact that Rally Champion and perhaps they would be willing to post the event for you.
Why can't kids under 13 join?
It's just for their own security. I'm hoping parents browse Wamboo with their kids & it becomes a tool for learning.
GETTING STARTED
How do I start to Wamboo?
Click Join Wamboo and register for your own Wamboo Member page. If you don't want a Page but would like to help, still click Log In but choose anonymous help.
How do I put a link on another Web site to my Wamboo Member page?
On each page there is a Wambutton with some computer code looking stuff underneath it. Copy & paste that code into your other Websites or profile pages. If you have problems, talk to the Website administrator of the site you want to link to Wamboo.
Can I change my Wamboo page preferences?
Yes. If you have a Wamboo Member page, Log In and select My Wamboo. If you have elected to donate anonymously, you will be provided a limited number of preferences as a one time option when you go through the donation process.
I want to change the look of my Wamboo page.
That option may come in one of the future phases of the site.
What is not allowed on Wamboo?
Well, to begin with, Wamboo is not responsible for the content of any user-submitted-post on the site. But Wamboo will try to enforce a few simple guidelines. Bear in mind, this community is made up of real people... the good, the bad and the extremely attractive. We want real life interaction and want to avoid censorship when possible. But off the top of my head, here are a few good rules:
Do not post personal information such as addresses, phone numbers, credit card info... ever.
Do not post any advertising from which you stand to profit or other spam.
Please keep references, links, remarks on topic and of interest to the Wamboo Members.
Do not use defamatory, abusive, obscene or non-supportive language.
Do not post anything that isn't appropriate for work or safe for kids. PG-13 is a good model to live by on Wamboo.com. There are lots of other online venues that would love to have your trashy little posting. This is not one of them. No kidding.
Do not include any graphics or videos that are huge or are in any other way annoying.
WAMBOO TEAM
What is Wamboo Team?
A group of individuals who join together to support one Rally or several Rallies. Sometimes they are already in a group together offline (co-workers, clubs, neighbors, etc.). Other times the groups began on Wamboo.com.
Can I start my own Wamboo Team?
Absolutely. On your Wamboo Member page, select Start a Team. If you do not have a Wamboo page, click Join Wamboo and register for one.
How do I join an existing Wamboo Team?
Find the Wamboo Team you wish to join and click Join Team. Please note that some teams have a self determined membership capacity or may otherwise choose to limit membership.
How many Wamboo Teams can I join?
As many as you'd like.
